THE SEARCH FOR THE ARK OF THE COVENANT

An explorer by the name of Ron Wyatt was invited by the authorities of the Israeli Antiquities to do some excavating and research in a very historical site in East Jerusalem just outside the Damascus Gate. The site is known today as the Garden Tomb where it is quite probable that Jesus was buried for three days and three nights. Within sight of the tomb is the “Place of the Skull” known as Golgotha.

It is interesting that after several years of digging and labor, Wyatt brought out a tiny ivory pomegranate from his excavations somewhere below the Calvary Escarpment, apparently below the place where Jesus was crucified. That ancient relic is on display at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.

I saw it on a trip to Jerusalem in April, 2006. If you ever visit the museum, just ask for the pomegranate. All of the security guards know exactly where it is kept under high tech surveillance.

The Ivory Pomegranate Vase

The Only Known Artifact From Solomon’s Temple:

Postcards and small jewelry items of the pomegranate are available in the museum store. A little booklet accompanies the jewelry with this inscription – “This piece of jewelry is an actual-size replica of an ivory pomegranate, dating to the 8th century B.C.E., probably a remnant from Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem, the only existing artifact from the First Temple known to us today. The ancient Hebrew inscription reads: ‘Belonging to the Temple of (Yahveh) Holy to the Priests.’”

Whether Wyatt’s claims of the hidden Ark sprinkled by the actual blood of Christ will someday be verified or proven false, it is noteworthy that he found that priceless little pomegranate and that it came out of his diggings deep below the apparent area of the crucifixion.

The finding of the Ark of the Covenant could have an interesting impact upon future political developments in Israel. The Jews want to build their Temple and re-establish their ancient worship. For years, most Jews believed that the Dome of the Rock sits in the spot where that Temple would be rebuilt. Now, however, it is believed that the Jewish Temple could be built NEXT to the Muslim Dome of the Rock . . . and that site would line up perfectly with the easter gate!

The Temple plans are ready and a large group of determined Jews are ready to start construction . . . perhaps sooner than we think . . . and that could trigger the greatest war the Middle East has ever experienced!

Editor’s Observation:

Keep in mind that anyone seeking to discredit the claim’s of Ron Wyatt would have had ample opportunity to remove all evidence such as his reported “cross hole.” My greatest reason to give Wyatt the benefit of the doubt is to remember that the Israeli’s had much confidence in his integrity and his previous finds.

There was a reason that the Israel Antiquities Authority came to him for advise and gave him the authority to dig where others had been denied. At this writing, it is important that we classify Ron Wyatt’s archaeological digs in Jerusalem as “interesting” and let time reveal what God wants
revealed.

Wyatt is credited with identifying the site of Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Red Sea Crossing site, and the iron pin that secured the stone over the tomb where Jesus lay for three days and three nights.

I visited with Mary Nell Wyatt (Ron Wyatt's widow) in 2006 and asked her - "Why do you think your husband found so many Biblical sites?"  Her response was two-fold:

#1  Ron believed every word of the Bible and he let the Bible guide him in the things that he discovered.

#2  "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen weak things of the world to confound the things that are mighty."  1 Corinthians 1:27
